I’m 18 and I’ve been brought up as a strict vegetarian. I tried to eat meat the other night for the first time(chicken dippin’ from pizza hut), and it tasted ok- but not more than 20 minutes later I became really ill and threw it all back up again. ( on someone I liked, actually. )

It’s for a foreign exchange placement, and I really want this, I just don’t want to seem fussy and rude. The people I’m going to be placed with do not understand vegetarianism.

The Riddler asked:

I’ve been a vegetarian (including no poultry or seafood or eggs, unless they’re in cookies and cake and stuff. Also, I’m not vegan) since I was born 17 years ago. If I wanted to stop being one and try some meat, how do I go about doing so? Will it have critical effects on my body? Will I get sick if I eat meat? Should I start eating meat slowly? Or can I just go out and have a large juicy streak? How should I stop being a vegetarian?
@mary
Yes, my parents are vegetarians, and so are their parents, and I’m sure they can trace ir back several generations….

@skinny
I probably won’t completely stop, but I don’t want to die without ever having tried a hot dog and whatnot.
@emsr2d2
Thank you for your concern. I understand where you’re coming from, but the food chain is real. It’s not something that people who eat meat make up for their reason for eating meat. But don’t worry, I’ll try not to eat meat on a regular basis. I just want to try it. Nothing wrong with that. I will try to be stay mostly vegetarian, but only because of the horrid treatment of animals in the meat industry, not because they have to die.

Now, I am living in my own apartment and starting my first year of college, how can i transition from being vegetarian to being a vegan.
